Clean Your Cooking Grates with an Onion

Grill brush looking a little worse for wear? If you don’t have a scraping brush for your grill and your cooking grates are looking a little grimy, never fear! All you need is an onion.

Cleaning a grill with your onion is as easy as it sounds. Follow these steps:

  1. Heat your grill to hot to burn off any large excess pieces leftover from your last BBQ.
  2. Slice an onion in half, stick a fork in it, and rub the cut side on your hot grill. Done!

The onion will scrape all the grit and grime right off your grill, no tools required. The onion’s juicy, thin-walled structure quickly releases its juices and the steam generated during the wiping process quickly cleans the grates.
